“Children’s Literature Mural”
School Library, Menomonie, WI

This 1000-square-foot mural features a compilation of storybook characters from over the decades, including characters by Mo Willems, Beatrix Potter, Shel Silverstein, Eric Carle, Maurice Sendak, and others. Weiss designed and painted the large-scale mural in the school as way of honoring illustrators in children’s literature, and promoting the arts in education. In the mural itself, Weiss combined many characters into one long scene which spans across four seasons. Teachers at the school use the mural as an educational tool in which students find inspiration to write and illustrate their own stories.
